Rainoff Books publish and distribute beautiful, bound things. Books, periodicals and the like. Ink on paper, words and pictures. We liked their temporary bookstore that graced Darlinghurst earlier this year very much, and we adore the titles that they make real – the artist monographs of photographers Sam Ash and Samuel Hodge; DADDY magazine; the wonderful Mountainfold Music Journal. We asked Rob and Sinisa a few questions and they responded with song lyrics. Mostly.

UHH — What's been keeping you busy lately?
RAINOFF — At the moment we are just enjoying the transition into honk honk bonk/springtime.

UHH — Tell me a little about your background, and how you came to do what you do with Rainoff.
RAINOFF — Inspired by Magellan, we set out to circumnavigate the globe. In addition, Brunei boasted tame elephants and armament of 62 cannons, more than 5 times the armament of our ships, and Brunei disdained cloves, which were to prove more valuable than gold, upon the return to Spain. And thus, Rainoff was born.

UHH — We're glad that you are creating and importing beautiful print publications, how do you find this practise is an increasingly digital-focussed world?
RAINOFF — If you must write prose and poems the words you use should be your own. Don't plagiarise or take on loan. There's always someone, somewhere, with a big nose, who knows and who trips you up and laughs when you fall. You say: "'ere long done do does did", words which could only be your own and then you produce the text from whence was ripped (some dizzy whore, 1804). I dreaded sunny days so let's go where we're happy, so I meet you at the cemetery gates, Keats and Yeats are on your side.

UHH — Who do you admire in Australia creatively, alive or dead?
RAINOFFYahoo Serious, is he still alive?

UHH — And where have you been drawing inspiration from of late - music, film, art, literature?
RAINOFF — I always come back to Without Feathers by Woody Allen

UHH — What's your favourite place in Australia?
RAINOFF — Opportunities are available in all walks of life in Australia. So if you're young and if you're healthy. Why not get a boat and come to Australia. Australia, the chance of a lifetime. Australia, you get what you work for. Nobody has to be any better than what they want to be. Australia, no class distinction. Australia, no drug addiction. Nobody's got a chip on their shoulder. We'll surf like they do in the U.S.A. We'll fly down to Sydney for our holiday. On sunny Christmas Day, Australia, Australia. No one hesitates at life or beats around the bush in Australia. So if you're young and if you're healthy, why not get a boat and come to Australia. Australia sha-la-la-la sha-la-la-la. Everyone walks around with a perpetual smile across their face. Australia sha-la-la-la sha-la-la-la.
