New York's Best Block

It begins with Tompkins Square Park, by the glowing lanterns and the Hare Krishna tree, with its roses embedded in snow.

It includes spontaneous messages from the Dalai Lama, and cacophonous window dressings galore:

Before ending with Veselka, the homely Ukrainian diner that is open whenever you need it.

Ahh homely home, New York City, I ADORE you.

Preacher & The Knife

My boyfriend's band, Preacher & the Knife, performing at designer Cynthia Rowley's show last Friday for New York Fashion Week, 2010, and below at Cake Shop on Ludlow St in the Lower East Side on Valentines Day! Jon Ramos, I love you.

Jon plays bass — he is on the right in both of the above! (right in my heart too. *cue moans of embarrassment*)

Another Lover

Delighted as always to see my old friend Danny Roberts of IGORANDANDRE. He is a brilliantly spirited artist, and had brought his drawing of Alexander McQueen to place at the altar of McQueen's store-front in NYC. More about our friendship here, here, and here. LOVE to the magic minds of modernity!

Snow Skies and Maticevski Moments

The night was so magical, the trees full of icicles, frozen dewdrops and snow. The following day I ventured to my soul-friends day of creation, on the first morning of New York Fashion Week, sadly deepened by the plummeting pit of my stomach after I learned that another favourite creatrix, the spirit of McQueen, had transcended the physical world and left us earthly mortals to continue our (mad, beautiful) dance. I miss him.

And yet love pours everywhere! That day I participated in the ever-most beautiful New York Fashion show of the one and only Toni Maticevski romantic soul I have been in communion with since the first time we set eyes (spirits) on each other.

Here is a picture of me backstage after the show, with Toni being interviewed in the background! I love this photo for its multi-dimensionality.
