SYDNEY — The fitout at Poepke is just like their selection of clothing and accessories – pure, clean and simple, with a bright, bold, and unusual pop of colour. The stark, classic space is natural with wooden floors and white walls much like the selection of basics from Sydney label Bassike, with their pared back tees and jersey trackpants. Then, there’s a bright, yellow lacquered staircase cutting through the space – a jolt of fun like the selection of Trust Fun scarves (courtesy of the clever coupling that is Jonathan Zawada and wife Annie).

Womenswear by Belgian masterminds Dries Van Noten and Bernhard Wilhelm sits in contrast with the darker aesthetic of selected pieces by Ann Demeulemeester. Bold, textural jewellery by Lyn and Tony resides next to deceptively simple pieces from industrial designer (and husband of Poepke’s owner Nicola), Stefan Lie. Lie is also responsible for the beautiful chair that takes pride of place on the shopfloor.

Poepke is also home to Rittenhouse, their clean, simple designs for men and women a perfect fit. This store is a thoughtful ode to good design and subtle fashion.
